New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has re-registered the case of the tragic Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives during a rally organized by actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party on September 27.

A CBI team recently visited Karur, inspected the site of the incident, and met with victims and their families to record statements as part of the ongoing probe.

The investigation was handed over to the federal agency following a Supreme Court order, which set aside a Madras High Court directive calling for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe. The High Court had earlier constituted an SIT led by Officer Asha Garg.
