South Carolina pulled out all the good luck charms for Saturday’s game against Alabama football . The Gamecocks celebrated the 2010 team that beat the Crimson Tide at Williams-Brice Stadium, with members of that squad and former head coach Steve Spurrier in attendance.
It almost worked. The unranked Gamecocks played the Tide close, even gaining a lead and most of the momentum when LaNorris Sellers scored with 10 minutes remaining.
But then, Alabama pulled off two rounds of trick-play heroics, not to mention a forced fumble, came back and won 29-22. The 2010 magic wouldn’t be recaptured.
After the game, Gamecock coach Shane Beamer shared that he’d gone even further in celebrating the classic upset.
