EAST LANSING — For so many years in the Michigan-Michigan State rivalry, the team that dominates the running game has won.
Michigan relied on 276 yards rushing, the bulk coming from Justice Haynes and Jordan Marshall, to help lead the Wolverines (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) to a 31-20 victory over Michigan State on Saturday night at Spartan Stadium. Haynes, who had not played the last five quarters after suffering an unspecified injury at USC, finished with 152 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Marshall had 110 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Haynes entered the game ranked fourth nationally in rushing and this was his fifth 100-yard rushing performance of the season.
He was pivotal in Michigan’s opening drive of the second half that set the tone for the Wolverines and gave them a 17-7
