Vinod Dongle from Dhar district saw over Rs 28,17 crore credited to his demat account before the system corrected the error.

What began as a regular day for lawyer and notary Vinod Dongle turned into a moment of surreal disbelief when he opened his demat account and saw a figure that could change anyone’s life — Rs 28,17,41,29,408.

Dongle, who also runs a private school in Dhamnod town of Dhar district, found that his account reflected 1,312 shares of Harsil Agro Limited, each improbably priced at over Rs 2.14 crore. The total valuation crossed Rs 2,817 crore, turning him — at least digitally — into a billionaire.

“For a few minutes, I thought my destiny had changed overnight,” Dongle said jokingly. “It felt like winning every lottery in the world.”
