ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old Orlando boy died Sunday after rear-ending another driver and hitting a tree in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 3:23 a.m. on Landstar Boulevard, near Island Cove Drive, troopers said.
According to an FHP crash report, the boy was driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and traveling southbound on Landstar Boulevard, approaching Island Cove Drive, when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and struck the rear of a southbound 2007 Honda CR-V being driven ahead of him by a 42-year-old Kissimmee man.
The Hyundai ran off the roadway onto the median and struck a tree, the report states.
