A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after he fell into a river in Miami early Sunday morning, fire rescue said.
According to Miami Fire Rescue, crews received reports of a man who was in the water near Southwest Second and North River Drive.
Witnesses at the scene said they tried to help the man with a piece of wood, but then he went under the water.
Dive teams with fire rescue jumped into the water, found him and pulled him out of the water.
Paramedics then performed life-saving efforts before taking the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
His identity has not been released.
An investigation into how he got into the river remains active.
