STERLING, Va. — Firefighters and sheriff's are still working to learn the cause of a three-alarm fire in Sterling, Virginia on Friday morning. On Sunday, the Fire Marshal's Office reported remains had been found at the scene. Investigators have not identified the remains.

Eight people were displaced were displaced by the blaze. One firefighter was transported with only a minor injury.

At 1:06 a.m. Friday, Loudoun County, Cascades, Sterling Park, Kincora, Ashburn, Lansdowne, Philomont, Moorefield, and Brambleton, as well as Fairfax County, responded to the 20000 block of Riptide Square, where two townhouses were reported on fire. That is not far from Lowes Island Elementary School.
