A fresh development in the suspected suicide of a young woman doctor from Maharashtra has intensified calls for an independent enquiry, after her cousin said the family believes she must have left another suicide note when her body was taken to the hospital, and highlighted a history of written complaints the doctor had filed about pressure at work.
The 28-year-old, posted to a government hospital, was found dead in a hotel room in Satara's Phaltan late last week. In a short message written on her palm, she named two men, Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane and a Pune-based software engineer, Prashant Bankar, accusing them of serious wrongdoing.
Bankar was arrested earlier and Badane, who had been absconding, surrendered to police overnight and is now in custody.
