IROQUOIS FALLS — Brant Romaniuk’s team-leading ninth goal of the season 3:47 into overtime lifted the Timmins Rock to a 2-1 win over the Storm at the Jus Jordan Arena, Saturday night.
The low-scoring, tightly contested contest saw Rock goalie Frédéric Cousineau and his Storm counterpart Virgil Sausset Plateaux keep their opponents at bay through the opening 20 minutes of the contest.
Diego Da Silva’s power-play marker, his eighth goal of the season, staked the Rock to a 1-0 lead 2:45 into the middle frame.
With the two goalies matching save for save, it appeared that tally might hold up to be the game-winner but Mathieu Ouellette countered with a power-play marker of his own, his third goal of the campaign, 4:58 into the third period.
