Damage reported in multiple cities after severe weather rolls across South Mississippi, officials say

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Officials are reporting damage following severe weather and tornadoes in multiple cities across South Mississippi.

Crews in Gautier are actively responding after a tornado caused heavy damage to Glenmark Apartments, Riverbend Condominiums and Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina, with less than 10 homes damaged.

According to Mayor Casey Vaughan , the Jackson County Emergency Operations Center (EEOC) is coordinating with Singing River Electric, H2O, the Gautier Police and Fire Departments and Parks and Recreation to complete citywide damage assessments. A shelter is also being opened for those who are displaced at Riverbend Condominiums, according to the mayor.
