ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills had nearly two weeks to solve what went wrong in back-to-back losses before their bye week.

For at least one day, they seemed to have the answers. James Cook provided explosive plays, running for 216 yards and two touchdowns, as the Bills rolled past the Carolina Panthers 40-9 on Sunday afternoon in Charlotte.

Buffalo struck first with Matt Prater field goals covering 45 and 43 yards. But it was a 64-yard touchdown run up the middle from Cook that got the Bills going, making it 12-3 with 7 minutes, 23 seconds left before halftime.

The Bills scored scored once more, on a 1-yard touchdown run by quarterback Josh Allen, to lead 19-3 at the break.

Buffalo quickly extended that advantage to 26-3 with a 54-yard pass from Allen to wide receiver Khalil
