The youth accused of making an extortion call to BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, and threatening to kill his son, was arrested, Bettiah Superintendent of Police (SP) Shaurya Suman said on Sunday.

According to police, the accused Ashok also had a partner with whom he executed the extortion call. The police also seized the phone used to execute the crime.

SP Suman told reporters, “We unearthed the entire crime in 24 hours. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNSS, and an investigation is underway. The phone used for the extortion call has been seized. One person is in our custody.”

The police official said they interrogated the owner of the phone used for the call and Ashok’s brother, who led them to the miscreants.
