MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — A 43-year-old man died Sunday after being stabbed multiple times near the Skagit River Bridge in Mount Vernon, police said.
Mount Vernon officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the bridge on Riverside Drive at approximately 10:20 a.m. While driving to the scene, an officer was flagged down by bystanders who pointed out a possible suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and immediately began life-saving measures. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police have not released the identities of the victim or the suspect, nor have they disclosed a possible motive for the attack.
The investigation is ongoing.
