Brian Kelly's time at LSU could be coming to a close.

After a 49-25 loss at home to Texas A&M that dropped the preseason top 10 Tigers to 5-3 on the year and bounced them from the rankings, rumblings of a change coming in Baton Rouge have already started.

On3's Pete Nakos reported earlier on Sunday that staff changes at LSU are likely, but after a report from Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger on Sunday evening, it seems those changes could include the head coach.

Per Dellenger, LSU officials are having ongoing discussions about Kelly's future, though a decision has reportedly not been made. Kelly would be owed roughly $53 million in buyout money if he is fired this season.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry is reportedly also involved in those conversations, as the school is currently searching for a full-time president.

Kelly's hiring was seen as a massive move in the sport at the time. He was poached from Notre Dame, where he was the winningest coach in program history, after the 2021 season. While Kelly holds a 34-14 record and produced a Heisman winner in Jayden Daniels, his tenure has produced several disappointing seasons.

That has especially been the case the last two years, in which LSU is just 14-7. Kelly is also 7-6 in SEC contests during that time span.

It's unclear if a decision on Kelly's future is imminent, but it seems a blowout loss at home could prove to be the final straw for the fourth-year coach.
