MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Mississippi residents now have a chance to make their homes safer during severe weather due to a new grant program offered by the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
MEMA is offering grants covering up to 75% of the cost or $3,500 to build FEMA-approved safe rooms.
Applications open Oct. 31 and run through Nov. 30. Grant winners will be chosen by a lottery.
Only new safe rooms built by licensed Mississippi contractors are eligible.
