CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run that occurred on Oct. 9 and left a 16-year-old cyclist hospitalized.
At 2:48 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the 1200 block of Court Street in Clearwater regarding a teen boy who had been hit by a car and suffered potentially life-threatening injuries as a result.
According to an arrest affidavit from the Clearwater Police Department, the bicyclist had the right of way but was struck by a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Colette Fortley Pizzarella.
During an investigation, deputies said Pizzarella appeared to be impaired and had bloodshot, watery eyes as well as pupils that were extremely constricted. They also said her balance was “noticeably unsteady.”
