ARCHBALD, Pa. — On Sunday, a "Breath Benefit" was held in Lackawanna County to support Aiden Mills, a senior at Valley View High School.
He was diagnosed with pectus excavatum, which impacts the functioning of his heart and lungs.
Mills and his family were pleasantly surprised by the community's outpouring of support this afternoon at the Archibald Sportsmen's Club.
"It started as a little idea, like just a get together with my teammates and my family ... that's really what we thought it would start as. then it just kind of blew up and exploded.. I mean, everybody's here for me, I love it," said Mills.
Aiden has surgery on November 6th to remove, reshape, and replace his sternum and reconstruct his rib cage.
The 'Breath Benefit' will help his family offset some of the medical bills.
