LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Indiana State Police announced the death of one of its beloved K-9 pals.
“Barker” died Saturday due to medical reasons and no foul play is suspected.
ISP says Barker was a loyal partner to Trooper Jacob Lauer and served as a dual-purpose K-9 – trained in patrol and narcotics detections.
He assisted in criminal investigations, narcotics seizures, suspect apprehensions and community demonstrations.
“His work helped keep our communities safer and strengthened the bond between law enforcement and the public,” ISP said.
Lt. Brock Werne said Barker’s loss would be felt not only by Trooper Lauer, but the entire ISP family.
“K-9s are more than just working partners, they become part of our family,” Werne said.
ISP says Barker’s service and sacrifice would not be forgotten
