LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State University was packed with University of Michigan fans ahead of the big rivalry game against the two schools.

Michigan and Spartan fans started their game day festivities early, with tailgating, grilling, and games all throughout campus.

Among the crowd were longtime friends Cindy Williams, a Michigan fan, and Donna Hondorp, a Spartan fan, who have attended the game together for 25 years despite their divided loyalties.

“My brother wakes me up at 7 a.m. every game day with the Michigan State fight song,” Williams said.

The two women have been best friends since childhood.

“We went to kindergarten together and then high school together, and then we had to go to separate rivalry schools,” Williams said.
