ATLANTA — The clock is ticking for lawmakers to reach a deal before more than a million Georgians lose SNAP benefits. The USDA will stop issuing benefits on Nov. 1st due to the government shutdown.
Erin Tucker of Atlanta relies on the benefits to feed her 10 children.
"I haven't even gotten to the 1st of November, and I'm already shaking in my boots," Tucker said.
USDA is suspending the November allotments due to no funding because of the shutdown.
Georgia’s Department of Human Services says people can use any benefits put on the card before Nov. 1.
Tucker said it's too late for her to try and stock up.
"Honestly, I'm kind of stuck with what I have right now, just because my planning for the government shutdown wasn't a part of my original plan," Tucker said.
