Students at a Kosciusko County elementary school recently put their science, technology, engineering and math skills to the test with a pumpkin drop challenge that culminated in a 40-foot free fall, a news release said.
Six of 13 classes at Claypool Elementary School successfully protected their pumpkin in the drop from the bucket truck provided by Rural Electric Membership Corp., the Warsaw Community Schools release said.
“The purpose of this challenge was to give K-6 students experience working through the engineering design process,” STEM instructional coach Derek Pike said in a statement. “Students were so excited to open their box and see if their pumpkin was still together.”
