WHEELING — It’s nice when a plan comes together. With a Homecoming dance set for Saturday night, members of the Wheeling Central girls’ soccer team had appointments that afternoon for hair and makeup work.
So, the top-seeded Maroon Knights (17-3-1) came out firing on all cylinders in the morning, making quick work of No. 4 Ravenswood (13-9) by a 10-0 margin in a W.Va. Class A-AA Region I semifinal on the artificial pitch at the J.B. Chambers Memorial Recreation Park 16th Street Complex.
That match was stopped at halftime due to the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission mercy rule.
