NORTH BAY — The Timmins Majors quest to serve up the U18 Trappers’ first taste of defeat this weekend came up short — well short.
After suffering a 5-0 setback at the hands of their hosts Saturday night, the Majors dropped an 11-2 decision to the U18 Trappers at the Memorial Gardens Sunday afternoon.
Despite the two one-sided losses, the Majors (7-6-1) hold a one point lead over the U18 Trappers (7-0-0) atop the Great North U18 League standings, although North Bay has seven games in hand.
The Majors managed to keep Sunday’s contest relatively close through the opening 20 minutes of action, trailing 2-0.
William Fournier’s third and fourth goals of the season provided the U18 Trappers with that advantage.
