A human skeleton discovered in a bush in Miliya Village, Balaka District, on Saturday has been identified as that of Tambalala Beledo, a 103-year-old security guard who had been reported missing.
According to Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, the Public Relations Officer for Balaka Police Station, Beledo was identified through personal belongings found at the scene, including his cap, shoes, and trousers.
Beledo, originally from Namito Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Makwangwala, Ntcheu District, had been residing at Chanje Village in Balaka, where he worked as a security guard at Likudzi Secondary School.
Inspector M’bumpha said Beledo was reported missing on October 15, 2025, and his remains were discovered after a woman from the area alerted authorities upon finding dogs feeding on
