Reports have emerged that Indian vice-captain Shreyas Iyer was rushed to a Sydney hospital following Saturday’s ODI clash with Australia at the SCG .
Iyer took an incredible running catch to dismiss Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey during the match, but as he hit the deck the 30-year-old suffered severe internal injuries, including a ruptured spleen.
According to The Times of India , “Iyer had dangerously low body vitals after the fall and was rushed to the hospital in the situation which was life threatening at that moment”.
The incident seemingly happened when Iyer’s elbow banged into his ribcage.
He was visibly in distress when he was escorted from the field with the help of Indian team medicos.
He returned to the rooms and one report suggested that he fainted before he was “
