The countdown for the 2026 Winter Olympics has officially begun. With last year’s spotlight on Paris, France, for the 2024 Summer Olympics, it’s now time for Italy to host over 2,900 talented athletes across various sports, all set to compete for the most prestigious titles. Set to take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, this marks the third time Italy will host the Winter Games, ending a two-decade wait since the 2006 Torino Olympics, and following their first in Cortina back in 1956.

While the Olympics are scheduled from February 6 to February 22, 2026, some interesting developments are already underway, one of them being the preparations for the grand opening ceremony. But before that, an important tradition has caught the focus of the fans – lighting the iconic Olympic Flame.
