LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - Sunshine fills the sky Monday with mild temperatures. Highs reach the lower 80s with only a cloud or two. Tonight, skies remain mostly clear as temperatures drop into the 60s. Most of the day Tuesday will see plentiful sunshine as temperatures climb into the 80s once again. A fall front arrives in the evening hours brining scattered storm chances. Behind the front, much chillier air arrives.
In the tropics, Hurricane Melissa has reach Category 5 status. It will drift towards Jamaica over the next 24 hours bringing destructive winds, flooding rains, and dangerous storm surge.
