Police in Chikwawa have reported a significant drop in cases of livestock theft, murder, and domestic violence this year compared to the same period in 2024.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Sergeant Chance Mfune Zare said statistics from the Research and Planning Department show that from July to September 2025, cases of livestock theft decreased to 49 from 54 recorded last year.

He added that domestic violence cases also went down from 13 to 9, while murder cases dropped from 86 to 61 within the same period.

Sergeant Zare attributed the decline to tougher court sentences, strengthened collaboration between community policing groups and law enforcement officers, and increased public awareness on crime prevention.
