A fire inside a Canning Vale industrial bread bakery has led to a shortage of bread on supermarket shelves across the State.
A blaze erupted in the Tip Top Bakeries’ ceiling above one of the bread manufacturing lines just before 12.30am on Wednesday, leaving the facility operating at reduced capacity.
Bread has been transported from South Australia daily to meet demand.
“We will also be transporting bread to Western Australia from our South Australian bakery,” a Tip Top spokesman said after the fire.
“We do anticipate some short-term impact to bread availability over the coming days and apologise for any inconvenience while we work to safely resume our operations.
