RP Singh, the newest member of BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee, reportedly held a lengthy discussion with out-of-favour India pacer Mohammed Shami on the sidelines of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Gujarat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The development comes after Shami had caused a stir by claiming that there’s been no communication from the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, regarding his non-selection.

Answering a query on Shami, Agarkar had said he has no update on the veteran pacer and that he hasn’t played enough cricket in recent times. In reply, Shami said it’s the selectors who need to ask him about his fitness level and wondered why he’s good enough to play red-ball cricket but not one-dayers.
