COLLEGE POINT, Queens (WABC) -- An elderly woman has died after a house fire in the College Point section of Queens early Monday.
The 85-year-old woman was discovered unconscious and unresponsive in the 26th Avenue home just after 5:10 a.m.
The fire started on the first floor of the two-and-a-half story home.
Seventy firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was under control by 6:37 a.m.
The woman was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead.
Two firefighters also suffered minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
