A decade on from her groundbreaking Melbourne Cup triumph, Michelle Payne gets goosebumps at the thought of Jamie Melham matching her feat in the race that stops a nation.

Payne famously steered 100-1 outsider Prince Of Penzance to one of the most remarkable Cup victories in history in 2015, becoming the first female jockey to win Australia's greatest race.

Two-time placegetter Melham is every chance to be the second, set to pilot equal-favourite Half Yours ($6) in next Tuesday's edition after steering the Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained gelding to last-start glory in the Caulfield Cup.

Melham was the first woman to ride a Caufield Cup winner, and paid tribute to close friend Payne by leaning on the trailblazer's famous "get stuffed" quote in the aftermath.
