TOKYO (Reuters) -Japan's new finance minister, Satsuki Katayama, said on Monday her meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent did not directly touch upon the Bank of Japan's monetary policy.
"I believe the Treasury Secretary held talks with Bank of Japan Governor (Kazuo) Ueda at the IMF meetings" earlier this month, Kataya told reporters after her first face-to-face meeting with Bessent in Tokyo.
