At least 18 persons have been charged with murder after a farmer was fatally run over by a Thar vehicle in Ganeshpura village under Fatehgarh police station area of Madhya Pradesh.

Following the murder, the opposition Congress alleged that the main accused, Mahendra Nagar, was associated with the BJP . The ruling party, however, distanced itself, claiming he did not belong to the party.

The victim, Ram Swaroop Dhakad, succumbed to his injuries at the district hospital following an hour-long assault that also saw his daughters allegedly stripped and beaten when they tried to intervene.
