Many American cattle producers are speaking out and are not pleased with President Donald Trump's proposal to import beef from Argentina. Trump told reporters on Air Force One that it would bring prices down.
The latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said the cost of beef is up nearly15% from a year ago. However, groups representing cattlemen across the country don't believe the idea will work.
"I think farmers as a whole are really disappointed in the remarks from the president," Illinois Beef Association Executive Vice President Josh St. Peters said. "Disappointed because we don't want the government involved in setting market prices or manipulating the prices paid for cattle."
