MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - President Donald Trump’s proposal to import beef from Argentina has drawn sharp criticism from North Dakota ranchers.
The president hopes it will ease record beef prices in the U.S.
Representative Julie Fedorchak said she’s fielded concerns about this from beef producers across the state.
Fedorchak shares in their disappointment but said she is seeking clarity from the president on his plans.
Under current rules, Argentina can ship up to 20,000 metric tons a year at a lower tariff rate.
The administration plans to quadruple that to 80,000.
Fedorchak said she supports employing Americans first to meet both quality and demand right here in America.
