As cold weather approaches, Asian beetles, an invasive species often confused for native ladybugs, have been seeking out places to overwinter. Too often for most homeowners, that means they're crawling inside where they buzz around, walk across ceiling or walls and, generally, annoy us.
The multicolored Asian lady beetle, a native of Asia can appear red, orange or tan and usually has a black "M" or "W" shaped marking on the white area behind their heads, while ladybugs lack that marking, according to Michigan State University .
