New Jersey residents should expect a wet and windy end to October with a nor’easter expected to bring rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph along with the potential for coastal flooding.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service calls for rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches across the state, but the heaviest rain is likely to be over in time for Halloween festivities on Friday evening.

“A storm system will impact the area Wednesday night through Thursday with rain and wind,” the weather service said early Monday.

On Wednesday, a complex system will begin approaching the region, bringing increasing cloud cover and a chance of light rain showers, particularly along the Jersey Shore, according to the weather service.
