A day after Portland police officers surprised entrenched demonstrators by clearing sidewalks and tents, and warned they would step up enforcement of low-level violations, protests outside the city’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building on Sunday drew 50-75 people to South Portland along with a regular police presence.

Portland police officers were seen in patrol cars in the area throughout the cool but mostly dry evening. Officers with the dialogue-liaison division of the Portland police said the city asked them to be a stronger presence.
