WASHINGTON -- The Senate will convene at 3 p.m. ET on Monday as the government shutdown drags on into its fifth week as of Wednesday.

Monday marks day 27 of the shutdown, which is now the second-longest in history. The longest occurred during President Donald Trump's first term, lasting 35 days through December 2018 into January 2019.

This comes as the House remains out of session this week, and Republican and Democratic lawmakers remain at a stalemate on finding a government funding solution.
