POTTAWATTAMIE COUNTY, Iowa —

Two people are dead after a crash on Interstate 880 in Pottawattamie County on Sunday night. A 27-year-old and a 2-year-old were hit and killed. The crash happened around 7 p.m. when a car was stopped in the middle of the interstate after hitting a deer.

The driver and the 2-year-old had gotten out of the car. That is when a second car traveling eastbound made an evasive maneuver to miss the parked car in the middle of the roadway. That car struck the adult and child outside of the parked car, killing them.

The crash is now under investigation.
