A police officer who was hurt while trying to detain a suspect was aided in capturing the man by a responding four-legged member of the department.
The incident unfolded late Sunday night around 11:45 p.m. when Simi Valley Police Department officers attempted to stop a pedestrian believed to be a wanted felon.
The pedestrian, later identified as Tim Rau, initially gave officers a false name, and fled on foot when an officer tried to detain him, law enforcement officials stated.
“The officer pursued and tackled the suspect; however, the officer sustained a shoulder injury during the struggle and was unable to continue,” SVPD said. “A K9 officer who had just arrived on scene deployed his police K9 to assist in taking Rau into custody.”
