New art exhibition by encaustic artist Doreen Farah Nadolny featured at UUBOB
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Outer Banks (UUCOB) will host the opening of a new art exhibition by encaustic artist Doreen Farah Nadolny. The exhibition will feature about 30 pieces and run from September 28 through December.
Encaustic—derived from the Greek word meaning “to burn”—is an ancient art form that combines beeswax, natural damar resin, and pigment. Heated and layered, the medium is brushed onto a surface, then fused with heat to create a smooth, translucent finish. It can also be molded, carved, embedded with objects, or enhanced with shellac for dramatic effects.
