Maryland’s housing picture looks bleak. A new report from the Maryland Comptroller’s office revealed that many residents are leaving the state because the housing prices are too high.
Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman spoke on the C4 and Bryan Nehman Show Monday morning regarding the report. She said the state needs to make sure that people who want to live in Maryland can afford to do so.
“We are looking at where folks are actually moving to and they are moving to states with a lower cost of living- and that’s the bottom line,” Lierman said.
Maryland is also about 100,000 housing units short of where it should be. Lierman said the state will need another 600,000 housing units by 2045 to meet demand and keep pricing reasonable.
