LSU made some changes to its offensive staff Monday morning the day after parting with Brian Kelly , starting with the firing of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan .
With Sloan out, tight ends coach and run game coordinator Alex Atkins will take over as the primary play-caller, sources confirmed with The Advocate. Atkins was previously the offensive coordinator at Florida State and Charlotte.
While Atkins will call plays, a source said wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton will remain in his position as the passing game coordinator, a title he has held since the 2024 season.
Tim Rattay, an offensive analyst hired earlier this year, will coach the quarterbacks the rest of the season, a source said. Rattay spent the previous five seasons as the quarterbacks coach
