SALISBURY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Salisbury Police say a bystander likely saved an officer's life during a struggle with an armed man.
Around 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, officers were called to the Cookout restaurant on East Innes Street. The first responding officer arrived to find a man armed with a knife.
When a second officer arrived, a struggle began, and the man started swinging the knife, which led to one of the officers receiving minor injuries.
During the scuffle, a bystander jumped in to help the officers, and his left hand was cut several times. Police say he prevented an officer from being injured more severely, likely saving the officer's life.
The second officer deployed a Taser two times, allowing officers to arrest the suspect.
