ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Residents may face delays or reduced amounts for November 2025 Food and Nutrition Services (FNS), including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Rowan County Department of Social Services (DSS) said Monday.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) received notice from federal officials that November FNS benefits could be affected if the shutdown continues, potentially altering both timing and amounts.

Micah Ennis, director of Rowan County DSS, emphasized the importance of the benefits.

“We understand how critical these benefits are to the individuals and families we serve,” Ennis said. “In Rowan County, we distribute an average of $3.5 million in FNS benefits to over 20
