The Odisha government has intensified its efforts to evacuate residents from vulnerable areas in response to Cyclone Montha, now a severe storm advancing at 15 kmph towards the east coast. A red alert has been declared across eight southern districts, putting the state on high alert.

On Monday, the state increased rescue teams from 128 to 140 to ensure swift action, prioritizing pregnant women, elderly, and disabled individuals. Over 3,000 residents have already been relocated, with 32,528 more targeted for evacuation. Cyclone shelters are prepared with essential supplies, and arrangements are made for domestic animals.
