Bristol is set to benefit significantly from the sale of 20 Typhoon jets to Turkey in a deal worth up to £8 billion, the Government announced today.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer signed the agreement during a visit to Ankara today (Monday), describing it as “a win for British workers, a win for our defence industry, and a win for Nato security”.
The agreement is the largest fighter jet deal in almost 20 years and the first new order for UK Typhoons since 2017, helping support thousands of British jobs.
The Government said the Typhoon programme supports more than 1,100 jobs in the South West region. That includes Rolls-Royce in Bristol producing critical modules and components for Typhoon’s EJ200 jet engines and
