BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle on Airport Drive, south of Roberts Lane Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman was walking northbound on Airport Drive just after 8:45 p.m. when a driver approached the woman, also travelling northbound.

The driver then struck the woman, ejecting the woman to a northeast direction. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.

The driver fled the scene following the crash.

It is unknown if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash.
